Abstract Academic and practitioner marketing researchers are enjoying a new communication medium with an inexpensive and quick way to reach great numbers of survey respondents. Internet research is conducted on-line through e-mail, the Usenet, mailing lists and the World-Wide Web. This paper begins by presenting findings from Computer-Assisted-Personal-Interviewing which may apply to on-line research. Next, the results of published on-line studies and personal interviews with practitioners are presented which enumerate strengths and weakness of Internet research. Finally, recommendations for future methodological investigations are presented.
